Electrooxidation Performance of a Cotton-Cloth-Derived, Ni-Based, Hollow Microtubular Weave Catalytic Electrode for Methanol and Urea

Increasing consumption produces a large amount of cotton textile waste, the conversion which into porous metals used for energy purposes is practical value. In this paper, porous, Ni-based, hollow microtubular weave (Ni-HTW) obtained from by high-temperature carbonization and hydrothermal synthesis with reduction. The microtubules in have diameter 5–10 μm wall thickness about 1 μm, every 15 form loose bundle 150–200 μm. For improved performance, Ni(OH)2 nanosheets are further electrodeposited on fibers’ surface Ni-HTW to nano-Ni(OH)2/Ni-HTW composite electrode core–shell heterostructure where Ni core shell. combination microtubule morphology nanosheet structure results specific area abundant active sites, shows excellent electrocatalytic performance long-term stability methanol oxidation (MOR) urea (UOR). current densities can reach 303.1 mA/cm2 342.5 at 0.8 V, 92.29% 84.41% (UOR) pre-cycle be maintained after 2000 consecutive cycles.

Synthesis of octahedral Pt-Pd alloy nanoparticles for improved catalytic activity and stability in methanol electrooxidation.

We report Pt-Pd nanoparticles synthesized by means of a polyol process with glycerol as a reducing agent. The Pt-Pd nanoparticles exhibit dominantly exposed {111} facets in octahedral shape with complete alloy formation between Pt and Pd. Furthermore, the octahedral Pt-Pd alloy catalysts show improved catalytic activity and stability in methanol electrooxidation.
